Remember that making a great mixed drink is a lot like making any recipe: the best results come from the best ingredients.

Some quality ingredients can be bought ahead and kept with your other cocktail supplies, but fresh ones should be bought just before serving.

What ingredients are you using in your cocktail ? e.g.- Use citrus fruits only when the cocktail contains citrus fruit juices, use tropical fruits with tropical drinks - Pina Colada, Sex on the beach etc.

Match the garnish on the theme of the cocktail - such as use tropical fruits for tropical drinks - Bananas, pineapples etc.
