Walter Anthony Jerry : Hi, i'm doing a research project on vodka - the best cocktail base. Could you please suggest how i can do justice to this topic, what information should i find out for the project, what topic should be included & given emphasis on and from where can i get such crucial details?
Tulleeho : It seems you have an interesting project at hand.
Vodka has always been a preferred base for cocktails by mixologists around the world as Vodka is a neutral spirit sans any colour, taste and aroma. This essentially qualifies it as a easily mixable base for cocktails. Think about it in this way...when you make a glass of Rasna or any other fruit concentrate why do you mix it with water?
Things that you can research on for your project:
* Origins of Vodka
* The production process with special emphasis on the distillation and the filtration process as these steps essentially make Vodka a neutral product.
* How and Why Vodka became popular? As a ladies drink? Time period and social stigma towards women drinking? How Vodka could be easily hidden and drunk as the appearence was clear and was easily mixable?
* How vodka traveled to the United States from Russia at a time when the Cocktail revolution was sweeping the country.
* Famous Classic Vodka based cocktails.
* How the trend still continues.
These are just a few pointers to help you to start of on your project. While a lot of information is available on the net, our website also gives you a good insight into the technicalities of different spirits. Incase you are looking for books to refer to, the following will be helpful:
* Complete Encyclopedia of Wines, Beers, Spirits and Liqueurs - Stuart Walton and Brian Glover
* The Vodka Companion: A Connoiseur's Guide - Desmond Begg
* Drinks - Vincent Gasnier
* 501 Must Drink Cocktails
The last two are available at our online at the Tulleeshop.
All the best and Na Zdrowie !!! (Russian for cheers)

Arzoo : What's the difference between Grappa di Allegrini Amrone and Grappa di Allegrini Recioto ?
Tulleeho : The two terms are used to denote two different types of Grappa, classified on the basis of sweetness.
A Grappa di Allegrini Amarone is a drier style of Grappa that is usually made from the pommace of the Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grape varieties.
On the other hand Grappa di Allegrini Recioto is on the sweeter side.

Mandeep : Hi, this is mandeep from kathmandu will u please tell me definition of flair bar tending, flair bartender, working flair & exhibition flair?
Tulleeho : Flair bartending is an art practised by bartenders to engage the attention of customers while at the bar. This includes a series of complicated moves executed with bottles, shaker tins, bar blades and other such bar equipment. This is also known as Extreme bartending / showtending.
A bartender that engages in this art is known as a Flair Bartender. Such form of bartending is popular in nightclubs or discotheques where the informal ambience allows for such showmanship.
Working Flair is a more practically oriented form of flair bartending wherein the bartender incorporates different flair moves while dispensing drinks / cocktails. These moves are worked in to a flair routine that the bartender uses while making a cocktail.
Exihibition Flair is another term for flair bartending it self but has more to do with show than with actual application behind the bar. Here the focus is on executing complex flair moves while attracting the attention of the customer without actually preparing a drink.
