Veeru : I have a bottle of dry martini. I don't how to use it. Please help.
Tulleeho :hi veeru,
the most common use for dry martini is in the most famous cocktail of them all - The Martini.
in a cocktail shaker or a jug half filled with ice, pour 60ml of gin/vodka and a splash of dry martini. stir well. now strain it without the ice into a chilled martini glass. drop a couple of olives in and drink!
Dry Martini is an excetionall good dry vermouth from Italy and tastes quite good on its own too when poured on the rocks with a slice of orange or sweet lime. if you would like it sweeter, spike it with your
favourite fruit liqueur like cointreau, kiwi, melon, strawberry...
enjoy

Shawn : I have a bottle of Martini. How do i drink it if you say it is made with gin and dry vermouth?
Tulleeho :hi shawn,
first of all - am assuming you have a bottle of dry martini (green bottle)
second - Martini (dry/secco) in a bottle is a brand of a fortified and aromatised wine called dry vermouth from Italy which is based on dry white wine, grape spirit and some herbs.
third - it is not the same as the cocktail ` Dry Martini" which is a combination of gin/vodka and dry vermouth (which may be Martini or any other brand).

Vaidyanathan : What are congeners? can we see them in beer?
Tulleeho :hi v,
Congeners are toxic substances created during the alcohol fermentation process. When you drink alcohol, these toxins are dispersed into your system as your liver breaks down the alcohol. While congeners are not the sole cause of a hangover, they do seem to contribute in some manner to the “quality” of the ensuing hangover.
Knowing something about the level of congeners in your chosen alcoholic beverage may help you determine how ill it can make you. In general, the fermentation and distillation processes determine the amount of congeners in the end product. Lower levels of congeners may mean a kinder, gentler hangover. . . if there is such a thing.
More expensive alcohol generally contains fewer congeners because it undergoes a more rigorous distillation process that filters out a higher percentage of the congeners. (Certain liquors may actually distilled three or four times). Darker colored drinks, such as whiskey, brandy an! d red wine have more congeners than lighter drinks such as vodka, gin and white wine.
BEER FALLS IN THE MIDDLE CATEGORY AND "LITE BEER" HAS VERY FEW CONGENERS.
Cheers!

Vaidyanathan : Draught Beer is also known as tap beer or fresh beer. Well, is it really 'fresh', i mean, is it immediately served after its manufacture without storing or lagering? Can you refer me some websites on Draught beer where i can get some more info. about it.
Tulleeho :hi v,
Firstly I must tell you that Lagering was developed in Germany for bottom-fermented lagers, and it involved a long, cold storage between 1 and 3 months in conditioning tanks. Today the trend is for shorter storage times of between 2 and 3 weeks at higher temperatures, to free up tanks. However, the shorter lagering programs can result in beer with higher levels of yeast and haze, requiring subsequent clarification steps.
Draught Beers also have to go through the lagering process before it goes into the Bright Beer Tanks from where it is sent to the kegs for filling.
I understand that there is a new micro filtering equipment , which when used can enable draught beer to last for upto 15 days in the outlet instead of the maximum of 48 hours. Breweries in India are still in the process of equiping themselves with these.
Cheers!
